Liverpool FC stars Andy Robertson and Harvey Elliott unite for Football For Change

Premier League champions and Liverpool FC stars Andy Robertson and Harvey Elliott joined forces with Football For Change Chair Jamie Carragher last week at a special fundraising lunch that united football royalty, celebrities, and business leaders to drive social mobility and opportunity for young people.

The event, which raised over £60,000, saw Robertson and Elliott take centre stage for a lively Q&A with Carragher, sharing behind-the-scenes stories from Liverpool FC’s Premier League-winning campaign and their standout moments from the season.

Football For Change, launched in 2022 by a powerhouse collective including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jamie Carragher, and Conor Coady, in partnership with business leaders, has now raised more than £1.1 million since its inception in 2021. In partnership with the Communities Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside, the initiative empowers NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) young people and those facing serious social and economic barriers.

This year alone, Football For Change has supported 14 life-changing programmes – including Liverpool’s Roots & Wings youth engagement initiative, delivered by Mandela8, helping young people at risk of criminal exploitation and disconnection from education. A donation of over £21,000 was also made to support the emergency appeal of Zoe’s Place Children’s Hospice.

Representatives from Acronym Community Empowerment which Football For Change supported with a grant this year, also attended the event.

Harvey Elliott said:

“I am proud to be involved with Football For Change and support the work it’s doing in partnership with the Communities Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside to help build better futures for young people who’ve had challenging starts. It was fantastic to join Andy, Jamie, and also Conor Coady at this event. I’m looking forward to doing even more for Football For Change in the future.”

Jamie Carragher added:

“The annual Football For Change lunch is always a great day. It is  a way to say thank you to some of our key supporters and also to the people running the projects we’ve funded to help young people in the region and across the UK.”

Football For Change is on a mission: to break the cycle of poverty and disadvantage, giving young people the tools, support, and confidence to transform their lives and their futures.
